The trucking industry and all stakeholders are well aware of the volume of the truck parking problem in the United States. The #trucking companies and the truckers bear huge costs, liabilities, fines, safety, and various non-monetary setbacks just because of the lack of truck parking availability.

Truck Stops not a Solution:

We find new truck stops constructed and inaugurated every now and then. These commercial businesses are opened at busy locations from a trucking point of view. They do serve the purpose of providing necessary services to the truckers and provide short-term truck parking or truck lodging but they do not provide long-term parking or a long-term solution. Truckers and trucking companies need both long-term and short-term truck parking spots. They book spot all over the country to manage their loads and park the trucks and trailers when not in use. These trucking companies need secure “transit” truck parking spots to leave trucks & trailers while managing different loads to and fro different cities and states.

Not only that, the whole winter becomes a bottleneck for the trucking industry because of the demand but fewer short-term and long-term truck parking spots available to the truck drivers. It builds pressure from different directions and becomes a dangerous problem during winter. That is where we feel there is a planning failure. This point is being ignored by all the stakeholders, thus a big shortage of truck parking is felt throughout the country.

It is very hard for me to understand why the trucking industry of America, with the stakeholders and government, has not taken concrete steps to improve the situation.
